Aims and Objectives

The Sussex Otters Swimming Club was set up to enable people with a disability - no matter how severe - to enjoy recreational swimming in a safe and friendly environment.

The Club has a team of volunteers who are available to help any member who requires support. Help can be offered in changing areas and the water. We have wheelchairs for use in wet areas and hydraulic changing beds to assist carers/parents when changing swimmers who have a physical disability. There is a hoist and a set of slope type steps to enable less agile swimmers to enter and exit the water. There are a variety of swimming aids and water toys.

We have exclusive use of the main swimming pool at the Westgate Centre for our weekly sessions

We do ask that prospective members provide evidence that recreational swimming would benefit them and not aggravate or worsen any existing condition.
